Description

M101 The Pinwheel Spiral Galaxy photos, located below or North of the handle of the Big Dipper , in the Constellation of Ursa Major. The best Example of a Face on Spiral galaxy, also the closest Face on SC class galaxy to the Milky Way.
This is a 320 minute or 5.3 hour LRGB exposure through my homemade 16″ diameter Newtonian reflector telescope & QHY8 Cooled Color CCD Camera & Modified Baader Canon Rebel Xsi DSLR Data Combined! This Spiral galaxy is 70 percent Larger than our Milky Way and is about 27 Million Light years away! This certainly is my best shot of M101 to date!
