The Planet Venus Photo – I captured this beautiful close-up image on May 14th from my backyard in Dayton, Ohio. I was blown away by the sight of Venus, The planet was 14% illuminated, 47 arcseconds in diameter, and blazing at -4.43 magnitude. This is as close as it gets to the Earth as Venus turns its night side towards us and heads towards crossing in front of the Sun (Venus Transit) on June 5th of 2012, this will not happen again until the year 2117!
