The Tropical Dippers!
I have just returned from some R&R with my Family!
Despite the bright moonlight,
I simply could not resist shooting the night sky while on vacation.
Here is a shot of what I call the Tropical Dippers!
I’m so used to seeing the Dippers nice and high in Ohio, It seemed strange to see them so low,
but was pleasantly surprised to be able see both dippers without obstruction from this far South (26 degrees).
Luckily the Island has no real high obstructions, and with perfect timing when most of the clouds cleared off,
I was able to grab this shot from the beach in front of our condo on Sanibel Island, Florida.
Looking North…
You can see Both “The Big Dipper” in Ursa Major  & “The Little Dipper” in Ursa Minor.
Also known as the Big Bear & Little Bear.
I illustrated the image to help you find Polaris “The North Star” & The Little Dipper by using the two front stars in the Bowl of The Big Dipper to point the way.

Canon 6D DSLR & 24mm F1.4 Lens, ISO 1250, 10 second exposure.

Best Regards,
John Chumack
